First Parish in Needham UU
- Sermon begins at 1:03:50
This Sunday before the inauguration, we explored the idea of finding places to “root down” amidst all the forces that try to uproot and isolate us. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, we considered King’s notion of the “inescapable network of mutuality,” first put forth in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail and how it still applies today. We tended to our grief and our fury about the intersectional disasters that loom around us and ahead of us. We thought, together, about the root systems of love, resistance, and justice that we might tap into and continue to grow in the years to come.
